The GOP Failure of 2011

The GOP has blocked almost everything the president has proposed for 3 years. Their only goal is to make Obama a one term president and it is costing all of us a balanced, working capitol hill and the sanctity of the democratic process. It is immoral to campaign with the power of law making but it is traitorous to do it for 3 years.

This has driven the confidence in every branch of government into the the depths of mistrust. Taking both parties down with it. This Fox News based, reactionary, divided nation, ideology is a seed of destruction. The GOP retook The House with promises of jobs, jobs, jobs. Where are they?

Any group who took part in a blatant anti-American activity would be tried for TREASON, and that is exactly how I view the behavior of these loathsome republican'ts, as treasonous!

Republican'ts aren't even pretending to do anything other than block procedure and choke participation in the democratic process. They would rather turn the US of A into a third world country in less than 5 years, than let President Obama be the great president he's more than capable of being.

Now more than ever we need hard term limits, so we can rid our government of these self serving career politicians who do NOT represent their constituents or do their jobs, and only strive for re-election and to line their own and their corporate owners' pockets with ill gotten taxpayer dollars.

Can Barack Obama Be Reelected President in 2012?

Consider the front runners for the GOP nomination. Then reconsider them, because the the lead candidate for republicans is continually knocked off of the chess board and not one viable candidate can keep the crown perched on his hypocritical head.

President Obama, is poised and ready to sweep the 2012 elections without much chance of a dark horse galloping in from the political shadows. And while the GOP scrambles for headway into the next cycle, I have already seen numerous Obama 2012 bumper stickers adorned on every class of vehicle.

Reelecting President Obama doesn't seem like a such a long shot after witnessing the last 8 GOP presidential debates and the nominees stumble to the point of practically handing this election to Mr. Obama.

What Has America Become?

I will dissect this article without much effort.
But primarily, it is sophomoric.
  • Whites can talk about blacks all they want.
  • I sat in the smog check station yesterday and bitched about blacks and whites with a black guy.
  • We even ragged on Obama.
  • They do nothing for the victims?
  • A free attorney is provided for the victim and criminal.
  • Over 200 People who have been in prison for 30 or more years, have been found innocent through independent DNA testing.
  • What did the courts do for them?
  • They don't teach that it is ok to be gay in school, they teach not to hate others for their differences.
  • Do you know how many children Bush killed in Iraq?
  • More than planned parenthood.
  • We are all socialist.
  • Do you get a check from the government?
  • Without Mexicans, your tomatoes would cost $4 each and that's just tomatoes.
  • Does anyone actually believe that Jesus would take this position?
  • Not a chance.
  • If you protest against Obama's policies you are a terrorist?
  • This guy, and most "christian" conservatives, have a short memory.
  • It was the Bush administrations that said "if you are not with us you are with the enemy."
  • I think Rumsfield said it but the administration repeated it for years.

I'll skip the nativity comparison.
This guy didn't graduate high school, I'm sure of that.

*He's comparing Katrina to the Gulf Oil Spill.
Are you kidding?

Finally, "What happened to the land of the free and the home of the brave?"

Am I free to be who I want to be?
Mexican, gay, christian, democrat, republican, Independent?
Yes, I'm in America, not some third world country.

Is this the land of the brave?
Do all of our troops vote the same? Are they all one religion?
No. Are they still brave? Hell yes!

Does it take gut to go against the establishment and fight for those who have little or no rights?
Always. Both sides of these arguments are brave to some degree.
And both are right to some degree as well.
The world works because of balanced ideologies, not one sided dogma.
The difference between me nd most people I know, is that I lived with black people, I know gay people and so I have less false concepts of them.

Right or wrong, they are people and Jesus loves them all equally, without hesitation. If he were here right now, he would have a long heartfelt talk with the author of this editorial about compassion and love.

And remind him that he was tortured and died on the cross so that this guy would have to freedom to chose.

Dear Mr. President

As the debate over deficits ramped up in Washington on Monday, Sen. Bernie Sanders laid out the compelling case not to slash programs for working families. Any deficit reduction package must rely on new revenue for at least half the reduction in red ink, he added in a major address in the Senate. Sanders spoke at length about what caused deficits (wars, Wall Street bailouts, tax breaks for the rich) and how to shrink them (more revenue from the wealthiest Americans to match spending cuts). He urged fellow senators not to yield to Republican congressional leaders who "acted like schoolyard bullies" when they walked out of budget negotiations. He summed up the situation in a letter to the president that had been signed by more than 16,000 people by the time he completed his speech.

Two big mistakes by Constitutional Defender Rush Limbaugh

We have a tremendous Obama honeymoon lineup today, with a look back to the conservatives' wild weekend and a look ahead to the battle for your dollars and mine. The fallout from Rush Limbaugh's fevered "address to the nation" continues. The battle for the GOP's "soul" continues.

Meanwhile, the Democratic Party appears to have gained the Big Momentum of Big Ideas (despite the aspirations of Republican worthy Newt Gingrich). That puts the Obama/America Honeymoon Status Advisory System (explained here) up a step to: Kissy-face.

But beware. As famous Communist Karl Marx said (or it could have been famous Communist Leon Trotsky), every movement carries "the seeds of its own destruction." Good warning for overreaching Democrats, but funny that should come up, since the right-wing attack is based on the assumption that the progressives want to make America socialist (the "U.S.S.A." — get it?).

The real issue is not ideology but strategy, and we'll look at the Obama budget that way. But first, and it's unavoidable, let's see where El Rushbo, defender of the Constitution, went wrong. UPDATE: And how he now is taking the Republican Party and its elected leader down with him.

After the break.

The Conservative Political Action Committee's huge confab climaxed in a Limbaugh speech that rivaled Bill Clinton's notoriously "droning" debut at the 1988 Democratic convention, where he went into overtime in nominating Michael Dukakis. Although Clinton only tripled his allotted 10 minutes, it seemed at least as long as Rush's four-fold extension to 80 minutes.

But here's the key to El Rushbo's speech. In receiving the CPAC's culminating Defender of the Constitution award, he MISQUOTED the Constitution.

Wall Street Journal Pro Obama

Wall Street Journal Publishes Pro-Obama Editorial
August 8, 2008; Page A14

"The underreported economic news of the week is that Barack Obama favors a stronger dollar. Even better, he thinks a stronger greenback would help to reduce oil prices." WSJ Oped

Things really have deteriorated between John McCain and the press: even the Wall Street Journal editorial board is turning on him. The famously conservative group publishes a column praising the economic policy of none other than Barack Obama:

The underreported economic news of the week is that Barack Obama favors a stronger dollar. Even better, he thinks a stronger greenback would help to reduce oil prices.

That at least is what the Democratic Presidential candidate told a town hall forum in Parma, Ohio, on Tuesday. "If we had a strengthening of the dollar, that would help" reduce fuel costs, he said, according to a Reuters dispatch ignored by most of the media. ... We don't know who is whispering in Mr. Obama's ear about the dollar, but he's on to a rich political vein.

A New Strategy for a New World

Barack will lead a new foreign policy based on restoring America's military strength and global respect, cooperating with allies, and reversing failed Bush policies. Scroll down for the full text of Barack's Speech.

Senator Barack Obama’s New Strategy for a New World

As Prepared For Delivery
Washington, D.C.
July 15, 2008

Sixty-one years ago, George Marshall announced the plan that would come to bear his name. Much of Europe lay in ruins. The United States faced a powerful and ideological enemy intent on world domination. This menace was magnified by the recently discovered capability to destroy life on an unimaginable scale. The Soviet Union didn't yet have an atomic bomb, but before long it would.

The challenge facing the greatest generation of Americans - the generation that had vanquished fascism on the battlefield - was how to contain this threat while extending freedom's frontiers. Leaders like Truman and Acheson, Kennan and Marshall, knew that there was no single decisive blow that could be struck for freedom. We needed a new overarching strategy to meet the challenges of a new and dangerous world.

Such a strategy would join overwhelming military strength with sound judgment. It would shape events not just through military force, but through the force of our ideas; through economic power, intelligence and diplomacy. It would support strong allies that freely shared our ideals of liberty and democracy; open markets and the rule of law. It would foster new international institutions like the United Nations, NATO, and the World Bank, and focus on every corner of the globe. It was a strategy that saw clearly the world's dangers, while seizing its promise.

As a general, Marshall had spent years helping FDR wage war. But the Marshall Plan - which was just one part of this strategy - helped rebuild not just allies, but also the nation that Marshall had plotted to defeat. In the speech announcing his plan, he concluded not with tough talk or definitive declarations - but rather with questions and a call for perspective. "The whole world of the future," Marshall said, "hangs on a proper judgment." To make that judgment, he asked the American people to examine distant events that directly affected their security and prosperity. He closed by asking: "What is needed? What can best be done? What must be done?"

What is needed? What can best be done? What must be done?

Today's dangers are different, though no less grave. The power to destroy life on a catastrophic scale now risks falling into the hands of terrorists. The future of our security - and our planet - is held hostage to our dependence on foreign oil and gas. From the cave-spotted mountains of northwest Pakistan, to the centrifuges spinning beneath Iranian soil, we know that the American people cannot be protected by oceans or the sheer might of our military alone.

The attacks of September 11 brought this new reality into a terrible and ominous focus. On that bright and beautiful day, the world of peace and prosperity that was the legacy of our Cold War victory seemed to suddenly vanish under rubble, and twisted steel, and clouds of smoke.

But the depth of this tragedy also drew out the decency and determination of our nation. At blood banks and vigils; in schools and in the United States Congress, Americans were united - more united, even, than we were at the dawn of the Cold War. The world, too, was united against the perpetrators of this evil act, as old allies, new friends, and even long-time adversaries stood by our side. It was time - once again - for America's might and moral suasion to be harnessed; it was time to once again shape a new security strategy for an ever-changing world.

Imagine, for a moment, what we could have done in those days, and months, and years after 9/11.

We could have deployed the full force of American power to hunt down and destroy Osama bin Laden, al Qaeda, the Taliban, and all of the terrorists responsible for 9/11, while supporting real security in Afghanistan.

We could have secured loose nuclear materials around the world, and updated a 20th century non-proliferation framework to meet the challenges of the 21st.

We could have invested hundreds of billions of dollars in alternative sources of energy to grow our economy, save our planet, and end the tyranny of oil.

We could have strengthened old alliances, formed new partnerships, and renewed international institutions to advance peace and prosperity.

We could have called on a new generation to step into the strong currents of history, and to serve their country as troops and teachers, Peace Corps volunteers and police officers.

We could have secured our homeland--investing in sophisticated new protection for our ports, our trains and our power plants.

We could have rebuilt our roads and bridges, laid down new rail and broadband and electricity systems, and made college affordable for every American to strengthen our ability to compete.

We could have done that.

Instead, we have lost thousands of American lives, spent nearly a trillion dollars, alienated allies and neglected emerging threats - all in the cause of fighting a war for well over five years in a country that had absolutely nothing to do with the 9/11 attacks.
